Sheep Dog Trials

The Sheep Dogs Trials Competition was first held at the Royal Queensland Show in 1899. Sheep Dog Trials are an exercise in speed and skill as the dogs and their handlers work sheep around a field. The dogs are judged on cast, approach, bridging, obstacle and general work.

Sheep dogs still play an important role on many Australian properties, with wool and meat producers using the highly intelligent canines to herd mobs of sheep.
