A highlight for many Ekka go-ers is the bright and fun filled Courier-Mail Showbag Pavilion, which is home to the Ekka's Showbags for 2025. From the classic Bertie Beetle showbag to bags filled with the latest toys and sweets, there are more than 300 showbags to choose from at the Ekka.

What Are Ekka Showbags?
Part of the fun of the fair at the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) is the iconic Courier-Mail Showbag Pavilion at the Brisbane Showgrounds, where Ekka go-ers can find aisles and aisles of colourful Showbags on display. From lolly and chocolate filled bags to popular sporting teams and children's characters, there is a showbag no matter what age or budget you're shopping for.
The Showbag Pavilion is a highlight of Ekka, and the tradition of getting a showbag dates back to the very first Show in 1876, where there was just one showbag - a bag of coal!
Showbags have evolved since then, now filled with all the latest toys, gadgets, beauty products, sweet treats, snacks, sports memorabilia and more, there’s truly something for everyone.
Last year the Ekka featured 67 new showbags. Some of the most popular Ekka showbags in 2024 included new and classics like Bluey, Spiderman, Frozen 2, Stella Athletic, InStyle, Freddo and Trolli Jumbo.

Where to Find Showbags at the Ekka?
You'll find all the Ekka showbags as soon as you enter the Courier-Mail Showbag Pavilion, next to B105 Sideshow Alley. The Showbag Pavilion is a hive of activity, filled with aisles of showbags, plenty of Ekka go-ers and all the sounds and fun of Sideshow Alley right next door.
For those wanting to avoid the bigger crowds, early in the day when gates open and later in the evening are the best times to visit the Showbag Pavilion. The Showbag Pavilion provides easy access with a number of entry points.
The quieter days of Show are traditionally Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday so these could be the ideal time to visit the Showbag Pavilion and take your time perusing the hundreds of showbags on offer.
There is a huge variety of showbags, with more than 300 to choose from and a number of new bags this year filled with toys, lollies, chocolate and other merchandise.
For those who shop til they drop, there are lockers available to store the prized showbags while enjoying the rest of what the Ekka has to offer.

The newcomers also proved popular, with Pokemon JNR, Wizz Fizz Super Sour Bag, NBA Milwaukee Bucks and Kuromi flying off the shelves.
