Top Tips for Getting to Show

  • Catch the Ekka shuttle (route EK1, stopping at all stations between Woolloongabba and Herston busway stations) or a high-frequency bus to Herston busway station. Once at Herston, your day at the Ekka will begin with entertainment featured along a 550-metre walk (7-minute) to the show gates.
  • Travelling by train? Catch a train to Fortitude Valley station and follow the Ekka signs to the show gates, which is only a 550-metre walk (7-minute).
  • Accessible transfers will be available for customers with accessibility needs from Herston busway station and Fortitude Valley station.

If you prefer to travel by bus:

  • Catch the Ekka shuttle (route EK1) or a high-frequency bus to Herston busway station – which is only a 550-metre (7-minute) walk to the show gates.
  • The Ekka shuttle will run frequent services between Woolloongabba and Herston busway stations, stopping at all stations in between from 8:30am to 10:30pm every day during Ekka.

If you prefer to travel by train: 

  • Catch a train to Fortitude Valley and follow the Ekka signs to the show gates, which is only a 550-metre (7-minute) walk.

Is public transport to the Ekka free, or do I need to purchase a ticket?

You will need a valid public transport ticket to travel to and from the Ekka.

There are multiple ticket options available to you including:

  • go card
  • pre-purchased paper ticket (from bus or train stations)
  • Ekka $3 and $6 travel ticket (from any attended train stations by presenting your valid Ekka entry ticket, excluding Domestic and International Airport Stations)
  • Smart Ticketing (trains only).

Tickets to Ekka 2023 are available to purchase online at ekka.com.au. Subscribe to the Ekka mailing list to receive exclusive offers at ekka.com.au/subscribe. Ekka tickets are not available for purchase at train stations in 2023.

What is Cross River Rail doing at Ekka?

The new Exhibition station will be located between the Brisbane Showgrounds and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and will provide year-round rail services to one of Brisbane’s fastest growing inner-city suburbs.

The station will feature:

  • Vertical transport to improve accessibility, movement, connections and safety around the station for all customers.
  • A new station entry plaza
