Stud Beef Judging - Shorthorn

The Shorthorn, originally known as Durhams, were developed in north-east England in the 1700s. In the mid-1800s, Scottish breeders selected animals that had increased compactness, thickness and the ability to mature and fatten at an early age, resulting in the present-day Shorthorn breed. It was one of the first pure-breeds to be introduced into Australia and arrived in New South Wales in the early 1800’s. Shorthorns have red, white or roan hides and can be polled or horned and can adapt to a range of climate conditions.
