Ekka Beef Week Vehicle and Site Access

The RNA is advising exhibitors to plan ahead for bump in for this year’s Royal Queensland Show (Ekka), due to the vehicle and forklift restrictions on Ekka eve.

VEHICLE ACCESS
Vehicles (including forklifts) will not be permitted on Gregory Terrace, Machinery Hill, King Street, Alexandria Lane and the Royal International Convention Centre Plaza between 6am-6pm on Thursday 9 August (Ekka eve only). Please note, Sideshow Alley and The Old Museum are not impacted.

This restriction is due to pedestrian safety, as the general public come in to watch the first day of stud beef judging in the Main Arena.


More than 1,000 people cme through Gate 1, 2 and 3 to watch teh cattle judging and we must ensure vehcles are not in these areas during this time.


During the 12 hour restriction from 6am-6pm on Ekka eve, exhibitors can drop off and trolley in from dedicated zones. These are at:


Normal vehicle access is permitted before and after 6am-6pm on Ekka eve. Once 6pm comes, exhibitors can bring their vehicles in as normal on Gregory Terrace, King Street, Alexandria Lane and the Royal ICC to finalise bump-in.

PEDESTRIAN ACCESS

From Monday 6 August to 6pm Thursday 9 August there will be dedicated pedestrian corridors in place to give the general public and beef exhibitors guided access to the Main Arena and XXXX Stockmen’s Bar and Grill.

The pedestrian corridors will run from Gate 1 through to the Main Arena; Gate 2 along King Street to the Main Arena and Gate 3 through to the Main Arena.

FOOD & RETAIL OUTLETS
Friday 10 August is the first ‘official’ day of Ekka, with gates opening for public entry and all outlets open for service. Prior to this day during Ekka Beef Week, there will be a range of catering and retail outlets operating for beef exhibitors.

Just Country 
Where: Stockman’s Rest
Open all day from Monday 6 to Thursday 9 August from 8am, offering a range of clothing items.

Ringers Western
Where: Main Arena
Open until 4.30pm each day during Ekka Beef Week, offering a range of clothing

The Cattlemen's Cafe
Where: Opposite the Beef Cattle Pavilion
Open 11am to 5pm from Saturday 4 August, serving a range of food options.

Iron Jack Cattlemen's Bar 
Where: Opposite the Beef Cattle Pavilion
Open from Sunday 5 August from 11am until late. This classic country bar is always a favourite with beef cattle exhibitors.

Woolworths Steak Bar 
Where: Machinery Hill
Trading hours for w/c Monday 6 August are as follows - Mon 7am to 4pm; Tue 6am to 4pm; Wed 6am to 4pm; Thurs 6am to 6pm; Fri 6am to 9pm; Sat 6am to 9pm; Sun 6am to 9pm

Pancakes & Steaks 
Where: Machinery Hill
Open from Monday 6 to Thursday 9 August from 10am to 2pm for breakfast and lunch, including bacon and eggs, pancakes, steak sandwiches and milkshakes.

XXXX Stockmen's Bar and Grill 
Where: Machinery Hill
The XXXX Stockmen’s Bar and Grill is open from Thursday 10 August from 11am until late. This quintessential Australian feel-good pub has more atmosphere than a Jimmy Barnes concert!

Welcome to Bowen Hills & Other Retailers 
Where: King Street
King Street in the Brisbane Showgrounds is a foodie hot spot. New this year inside the Ekka grounds are food truck park Welcome to Bowen Hills and bohemian inspired bier hall Bavarian Beerhaus. Royal Queensland Steakhouse presented by JBS Australia
Open from Wednesday 8 August from 11am to 9pm daily.
Located in the Upper Royal International Convention Centre, the fine dining steakhouse is the only restaurant of its kind where you can try the nation’s finest steak, lamb, wines and cheeses all at the one location.
The award-winning produce is sourced from the prestigious Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show (RQFWS) and iconic Ekka.
