School Excursion Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost for school groups to attend?
School groups are invited to receive discounted entry to Ekka.  Tickets are available for students aged 14 years or younger at a cost of $16.00 per student.  Tickets for students aged 15 years or older are available for $21.00 per student.

Prices quoted do not include train or bus fares. The school is responsible for making their own transport arrangements to Ekka.

Do teachers have to pay to attend with a school group?
Prep to Year 12: We provide one (1) free teacher/supervisor ticket for every five (5) student tickets purchased.

Additional teacher/supervisor tickets are available at the discounted price of $25.00 per person.

What are the best days for school groups to attend Ekka?
School groups are encouraged to attend Ekka on Friday 11th, Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th August, 2017. We have various activities available for school students each day with special highlights on select days. More information is available within the Ekka Excursion Planner which can be downloaded from our website

How can our school make payment for our tickets?
Your school can pay by credit card, cheque or direct deposit.

Your invoice must be paid before the tickets will be sent out and refunds will not be permitted after your payment is received.

How will I receive my tickets?
Once payment has been received, you will be emailed your tickets electronically. The email will contain a barcoded letter which contains the number of tickets you have purchased.  Simply print the letter out and present it to the Ekka gate staff upon arrival.

What is the deadline for booking school group tickets?
School bookings close on Friday 14 July 2017. If you require tickets after this date, please email for assistance.

Where is the school bus drop off and pick up area?
The pick-up and drop off area is Gate 5A which is located off O’Connell Terrace, access is via Brookes Street.

Where is the closest public transport from the showgrounds?
Exhibition Station is located within the Ekka grounds and can drop you off right in the heart of the action.  Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley railway stations are less than a ten minute walk from Brisbane Showgrounds. For further information, phone TransLink on 13 12 30, or visit TransLink.

Where do we find information about for suitable activities and presentations for our students?
You can download the Ekka School Excursion Planner on our website. The planner will be continually updated throughout the year; please continue to check our website for the latest version.

Can our students bring their own lunch into Ekka?
Yes! Your students are welcome to bring lunch with them. Please remember to dispose of any rubbish in the bins provided.
