School Garden Competition supported by Brunnings

IMPORTANT UPDATE 

The RNA has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) in the best interests of public health. Due to the worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, increasing social distancing measures and public gathering restrictions being implemented, ensuring the health and safety of the Ekka community and the general public is paramount.
We understand the effort, time and planning our valued exhibitors put into their entries each year. Thank you for your support of Ekka.
If you have already entered this competition for 2020, our Finance department will issue a full refund of your entry fee.

Competition Overview 

Students are invited to step back in time to design and build a seasonal veggie garden for display at The Old Museum during the Ekka. Students must also create a simple recipe using their garden produce as key ingredients.

The School Garden Competition supported by Brunnings is a great opportunity for school students to learn and apply their gardening skills in a fun, competitive environment and win fantastic prizes for their school.

This competition is aligned and recommended for Year 2 students however, all year levels are welcome to enter.

Australian Curriculum Alignment:

Year 2

  • Living things grow, change and have offspring similar to themselves (ACSSU030)

  • Earth’s resources are used in a variety of ways (ACSSU032)

  • People use science in their daily lives, including when caring for their environment and living things (ACSHE035)
