The Horse Competition will once again see some of the best groomed animals at Ekka take over the Main Arena. Horses have been competing at Ekka since the very first show in 1876, when silver cups were awarded to the best stallion and best heavy draught stallion.
More than 15 breeds of horses will be on display across the eight days of judging. Don't miss the junior riders on the last weekend of show, with kids as young as three taking part in the new lead rein classes.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2018 EXHIBITORS
It is a requirement that all horses entering the Brisbane Showgrounds must be Hendra vaccinated in accordance with the RNA’s Horse & Arena, and Veterinary, Biosecurity & Animal Welfare Committees regulations.
You are now able to enter the competition without your horse having the “Protected” status on the Zoetis Hendra Vaccination Register.
If your horse does not appear on the register as “Protected” as at 9am on the 1st August, your entry will be disqualified with no refund of entry fees.
Therefore the onus is on the exhibitor to ensure:
- The correct microchip number(s) are entered when entering the competition;
- Your veterinarian has updated the Zoetis Vaccination Register in a timely fashion after administering the Equivac HeV vaccine;
If your horse does not have the “Protected” status as at 23 July you will be contacted by email advising you to rectify otherwise your entry will be disqualified.
