Competition Overview
The Woodchop and Sawing Competition Competition has been held at the Ekka for more than a century. Axemen and women come from across the country to compete for equal prize money.
In addition to cash prizes, the following titles are awarded:
- Champion Axeman of Show
- Junior Champion Axeman of Show
- Most Successful Competitor
- Most Successful Lady Competitor
- Councillors Best and Fairest
- Champion Queensland Axeman of the Year
The Ekka is very excited to host the following Australian Titles:
- 325mm Standing Block
- 350mm Underhand
- 325mm Tree Felling
- 300mm Standing Block Hard-Hitting
- Women's 275mm Underhand
- Women's 325mm Single Handed Sawing
- Open 450mm Double Handed Sawing
- Jack and Jill 375mm Double Handed Sawing
The competition is a show highlight and is one of the largest competitions at the Ekka.
