Woodchop and Sawing
The Woodchop and Sawing Competition is a show highlight and has been running for over 100 years. With more than $100,000 in prizes up for grabs, it attracts axemen and women from as far as New Zealand and across Australia - some are even fourth generation. The woodchop competition is the fifth largest competition at the Ekka, with more than 2,000 entries in 2017.
New in 2018
This year Woodchop and Sawing will be housed in the new undercover Woodchop Arena and competitions will run later until 7pm.
Ekka guests can also expect to see a bit of old-fashioned sporting rivalry with a new Open Men's Invitational - Australia vs New Zealand competition to be held on Tuesday 14, Wednesday 15 and Friday 17 of August.
Displaying precision, power and speed, this competition is an Ekka highlight and one not to be missed.
