Meet a bull
Beefing up the Ekka is Australia’s largest annual cattle competition.
We herd that at the very first show in 1876, there were just three breeds of beef cattle on display - Durham, Hereford and Devon.
In 2019, you’ll see 30 breeds and around 1,700 head of cattle, as they compete in stud beef, led steer and prime beef competitions.
It truly is a sight to see – nowhere else will you find this many cattle so close to a city’s CBD. Our Stud Beef Competition alone is the largest showing of stud beef in the Southern hemisphere!
Highlights include the Parade of Livestock featuring hundreds of big beasts, Parade of Champions and crowning of the Grand Champion bull.
Moo-ve on over to the Main Arena and the Arrow Energy Pavilion to see these gentle giants.
