country. A team of dedicated and passionate judges and
co-ordinators rigorously inspect every entry, and only the best of

Apiculture
The apiculture category is a hive of activity! This year's Royal
Queensland Show features competitions for the best liquid and
granulated honey, pollen, comb, beeswax and Champion queen bee.

Beef Cattle
About 2,500 head of the best beef cattle in Queensland come to the
city for the Show. There are competitions for stud beef, led steer,
and prime beef. Cattle will be paraded, judged and displayed
throughout the 10 days of the show. Visit the Beef Cattle

Royal Queensland Champion Show

They say every dog has its day, and with more than 200
breeds of dogs on show lots of dogs will have an Ekka to remember!
Competitions also include dog dancing, obedience and agility
trials, and the super-cute RNA Puppy Sweepstakes.

Combined Fleece Breeds
Stud angoras, mohair fleece, stud sheep, wool, alpacas and their
fleece will be judged during the Royal Queensland Show. On B105
People's Day, the young judges competition will inspect Mohair
Fleeces.

Dairy Cattle
The cream of Queensland's dairy industry will rise to the top!
Breeds including Ayrshire, Guernsey, Illawarra, Jersey,
Holstein-Friesian and Brown Swiss will compete on the quality of
the cows and of their milk. With Brown Swiss being the Feature
Breed for 2012, an auction will be held on Tuesday 14 at
5.00pm on Oval 2.

Whiskas Championship Feline Competition
More than 40 breeds of cats and kittens will be displayed and
judged at this year's Ekka. Prizes will be awarded for best kitten,
best litter of kittens, and best cat. The special Whiskas Supreme
Companion of Show prize will be awarded to regular household
cats.
Bring the kids along to the "Pet a Cat" sessions to get up close
and personal with Queensland's finest felines in the Cat Pavilion
inside Animal Boulevard. |
Goats (Dairy and Boer)
Dairy goats are judged on their physical attributes and their
ability to produce quality dairy products.
Boer goats are judged on their ability to produce high-grade goat
meat. Judging will take place on the upper level of the Beef
Pavilion. |
Horses
The horse competitions are among the most exciting events at the
Royal Queensland Show and draw some of the largest audiences. More
than $55,000 in prizes will be up for grabs.
Check out the competitions for over 20 breeds of horses,
showjumping, police horses, campdraft, and open riding
classes.

Pisciculture
Queensland's best aquarium enthusiasts get ready to make a splash
in the Pisciculture competition. Discover everything from the
common goldfish to tropical species, as well as Australian
freshwater natives, crustaceans, and amphibians. A remarkable
variety of aquaria will be on display in Animal Boulevard. |
Poultry, Pigeons, Birds and Eggs
This year's Royal Queensland Show gets off to a flying start with
the Poultry, Pigeons, Birds and Eggs competitions.

Sheep Dog Trials
The Sheep Dog Trials are an exercise in speed and skill as the dogs
and their handlers work sheep around a field.
